Slowly getting around to photographing some of my art for my upcoming exhibit at @bismarckdowntownartist. Hoping for some more warm days to take more photos. Exhibit will be April 4 - 26. This is my first solo exhibit. I am over the moon! 🌙

I think I will title this one “The Tiniest Awoooooo”.

A painting I did back in 2021 that I stumbled upon when I was preparing for a still life class I lead back in October. I thought it fit the theme of this exhibit so I stuck it in this cute little frame and dropped it off. Reception is this Friday at 5:30pm at Bismarck Downtown Artist Coop!

I made this little cutie first digitally and then recreated it traditionally as a watercolor. I’ll need to take a photo of the watercolor version at some point. But think it worked better this way. I also made a little phone wallpaper with it for myself.

Through the mist I saw the greenhouse.

I am participating in Folktale week. @folktaleweek

I don’t quite have the clearest story. The images came first. I wanted a set of prompts to start a series and this fit. Inktober seemed too daunting this year.

There is a start of a story in this series. But the paintings are not in the order that they were in the prompt list for it to work. So I need to play around with that a bit and see what I come up with. Or just leave them alone as just paintings, which is ok too.

One of my paintings for the Art in Bloom exhibit at BDAC that opens tonight. I went with dandelions, apple blossoms, and clovers to represent wishes for good luck. I love the idea of a simple wildflower bouquet that a child might pick.

I have this lovely book by @jessicasroux (last two images) that states a bouquet of these flowers represents hope that the recipients wishes will come true.

🎨 Last week’s plein air paintings. Two 5 x 7 gouache paintings of a handsome tree growing over a path.

The first one was the one with the greener tree. I started it and didn’t like the colors so I started a second version. Then when I was done with that one I went back to the first and painted over it a bit. Now the one I didn’t like has grown on me a bit. 🤷🏻‍♀️
